Mobula means “manta ray”.
Did you ever have the opportunity to watch a manta ray?
I saw one in an oceanarium years ago and had been fascinated about the elegance of this huge animal. Is it really a fish or a kind of huge bird flying through the water?
This experience inspired me to knit a shawl equally elegant and unusual, but with a lot of possibilities for wearing.
Mobula is made of two kinds of silk. A simple textured lace pattern is made with a ribbon-silk, that tastes in the beginning a bit like paper, later it becomes drapey and smooth.
This light fabric is edged by another luxurious, a bit heavier silk to form a nice frame for wearing. Joining the parts there is a textured pattern with crossed stitches. The outer border consists of an attached I-cord all around.
Mobula can be made in one or more colors, just according to your personal taste.
