Scheepjes Dawn Chorus CKAL - Blue Tit Cushion
In 2024, Scheepjes looks back on 10 years of CAL and we think that's a reason to celebrate.
And how Scheepjes celebrates!
Under the overall heading 'Dawn Chorus', a wonderful project is planned for every season in 2024. "Dawn Chorus", the polyphonic song of the birds in the morning, which inspires us to new creativity, is the leitmotif for all 4 projects.
The second bird, to which a kit is dedicated, is the blue tit, and again you can choose which technique you prefer to work with: crochet or knit?
For the second kit in the Dawn Chorus CKAL, Liz Barraclough designed the Blue Tit Cushion, a wonderfully soft and stylish cushion.
The instructions will be available in stages on the Scheepjes website from April 17. You can also find all further information about the CKAL there.
The pattern is suitable for intermediate to advanced crocheters and knitters. You can crochet or knit the cushion cover in a solid blue colour. For the crocheted version, you then work with cross stitches and for the knitted version with duplicate stitches to add a coloured image, motif of the blue tit to the cushion cover. You make the Blue Tit cushion with Scheepjes Scrumptious (50% Recycled Polyester and 50% Acrylic) and Scheepjes Cahlista (100% Cotton). In addition to the yarn, the kit also contains several nice extras.
The Scheepjes CKAL Blue Tit Cushion kit contains the following materials:
3 x Scheepjes Scrumptious of 100 grams with a running length of 300 metres per ball
11 x Scheepjes Cahlista of 15 grams with a running length of 25.5 metres per ball
1 x Tissu de Marie fat quarter pack with 5 coloured pieces of fabric measuring 50 x 57cm
1 x tapestry needle
1 x sticker sheet
1 x yarn organizer
1 x set of 3 postcards
The free crochet and knitting pattern is available via the Scheepjes website in Dutch, English (UK & US) and German and via the official Scheepjes Facebook groups.
Of course, you will also need knitting or crochet hooks and accessories for both versions. These are not included in the kit. For the crocheted version these are:
1 x crochet hook in size 2.50mm
1 x crochet hook in size 4.00mm
1 x cushion insert
1 x stitch marker
And for the knitted version:
1 x pair of single pointed knitting needles or circular knitting needle in size 5.00mm
1 x crochet hook in size 2.50mm
1 x cushion insert
1 x stitch marker
When the cushion is ready, both the crocheted and knitted versions will measure 45 x 45cm after Blocking.
