Tidelands
by crocodile
crocodiles (Barbara Laumbacher in real life) latest design is an invitation to her most beloved place for holidays: the German coasts of the sea. So she is swooning over those places:
"I love to spend my holidays at the German coasts of the sea. Contemplating the land between low tide and high tide I have always been fascinated by formations of the sand what are called ripple marks.
Especially at sunset the wavy structures appear really three-dimensional with their shadows and seem to follow hidden rules. They run parallel for a time then some unknown parameters change and the pattern becomes different but still periodical - following a subtle influence the viewer may recognize but not explain…
Of course geologists can very well explain how these structures develop, but wouldn't that destroy the magic?" (crocodile)
"Tidelands" is an asymmetric shawl that tries to mimic a pattern of ripple marks in the sand. The ripples are formed with small pleats. Don't worry, a useful and simple method how they can be worked very easily without looking for stitches from subjacent rows will be explained in the pattern.
The shape of the shawl is built up with short rows and if desired little fringes can be added.
