Via Appia - our advent Mystery 2024
A warm invitation to this year's Advent Mystery
As in previous years, Barbara Laumbacher has designed a wonderful shawl for us and here she tells us a few things about it:
“This year we want to knit together again during Advent.
This year's shawl has an unusual name and unusual details. The style is somewhat reminiscent of Roman mosaic ornaments and Art Deco. It is knitted sideways with shortened rows and brioche, tucks are worked as 3-dimensional elements.
To this day, the Via Appia is the longest, straightest path in Europe and even if its history is warlike and bloody, the path itself is also a symbol of movement, departure and encounter.
The shepherds set out, the magicians from the East set out, but all paths did not lead to Rome, but straight to the manger in Bethlehem.”
For this year's Advent KAL, we need a Trio Aquarell and three more skeins of Twisted Fifties as the main color. A good contrast is an advantage for the design. The main color will dominate the shawl, so it should match your favorite winter wardrobe and you love to wear against your face.
As every year, the instructions will be published here in four parts on the Fridays before the Sundays of Advent, on 29.11. 6.12. 13.12. and 20.12. They are free of charge and can be downloaded here until 6.1.2025.
We accompany the KAL in our group on ravelry. We are happy to help with any questions or problems with the instructions.
We look forward to knitting through Advent together again and embarking on our knitting journey.
