"Warten auf's Christkind" by dibadu you will receive the german and the english version
…. kind of an advent calendar shawl.
The gloomy days of German winters would be unbearable in case there would be no hope for the light, which Christmas brings.
The first advent calendars as also the first advent wreath have been invented to shorten the time for children, when waiting for Christmas, and make signs to show that time passes by…
And still we hold on to this vintage use. We get excited about little gifts or written thoughts of love on every of the 24 days in December before Christmas Eve.
There are countless variations of those advent calendars and few years ago the first ones for us knitters occurred. Filled with tiny skeins of yarn they make us just happy.
Some might be happy with cuddling their skeinettes. Others want to knit something with them and ideally use all of them for one. Exactly for theese I made this shawl. Showcasing a garland pattern which makes the colors sing and tell you their story of advent and the coming one….
In the end you will have used up all of your yarn. For not playing yarn chicken in 24 steps, you should do a proper gauge. In case you are off, use a smaller needle or knit one pattern repeat less.
My Shawl measures 60 x 200 cm after blocking.
The shown smaller shawl has been worked with a yarn with less yardage and slightly bigger needles. Here I also did only 8 pattern repeats (instead of 10 )
Yarns used::
Funnies Advent calendar – 24 x 20g Merino Sock (75% wool, 25% nylon; 425m/100g)

The smaller stole used 3 Mini Fade Kits (73m per color)
