"Komet" by crocodile
Barbara Laumbacher herself is writing about her design:
Lately a friend said: „Who cares about Christmas nowadays? The whole world is in an uproar, terror, catastrophes, war. If you go to Bethlehem today, I bet the crib will be empty!”
And I remembered a drawing I have seen long ago: it must have been in 2001, after 9/11. There was a woman in a black dress, a man giving her a hug – as if he wanted to comfort her and also himself. Both looked down sadly and desperately on an empty crib. In the background the Twin Towers.
A really disturbing picture.
And now such a statement?
Yes, it is true, these bad and upsetting things exist, I myself had to experience this year that my previous life broke down because of the death of a beloved person – or at least felt like breaking down. But anyway!
I don’t want to accept that! I want to hold on to the idea of Christmas, and yes, I’m totally sure to find the light and the hope in the crib of Bethlehem!
I will follow the star! Let’s go together?
The inspiration for this year’s Christmas shawl is this very star – maybe a comet?
It is a vanguard interpretation of a classic triangle shaped shawl, with texture and a bit 3D effect
We will use one of dibadu’s Fifties-Gradient sets and 10g beads 6/0."
